[Dong-A Ilbo] Woomtree, builds smart eco-friendly factory... strengthens ESG management

The Smart Eco-factory Construction Project, hosted by the Korea Environment Corporation under the Ministry of Environment, is a project to support the construction of an eco-friendly production system by reducing greenhouse gases, waste, and improving energy resource efficiency in manufacturing plants with a high proportion of pollutant emissions.

After being selected for the smart eco-factory construction project in June of this year, Woomtree carried out the smart eco-factory construction project for approximately 5 months, investing a total of 1.65 billion won in government subsidies and self-financing.

Through this eco-factory construction project, we were able to reduce annual greenhouse gas emissions by 343.7 tons (CO2eq, carbon dioxide equivalent) by introducing high-efficiency energy-using facilities such as heat pumps, inverter compressors, high-efficiency chillers, and LPG boilers. In addition, we achieved results in reducing dust, water pollutants, and waste emissions by introducing filtration and collection facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, and centrifuges. We also improved the operation method by establishing an ICT (Information and Communication Technology)-based monitoring system.

A Woomtree official said, “We will continue to seek out and implement various methods, such as changes in production methods, to reduce greenhouse gases and pollutants generated during the food manufacturing process.”
